Annual Limits of Intake

In response to Jim Barnes question and Steve Rima's response 
regarding ALI's and "Intake".

"Intake" is defined as the quantity that passes through the port of 
entry, either by ingestion or inhalation.

"Deposition" in the case of inhalation is defined as the fraction 
that is not exhaled.

In the case of a noble gas, there is in fact deposition, although the 
retained fraction is small.  Immersion dose is normally the limiting 
factor and the regulatory standards are based on that fact.
