Roentgen Centennial
Announcing the ROENTGEN CENTENNIAL - International Congress on the
100th Anniversary of the Discovery of X-Rays in Wuerzburg
October 23 to 27, 1995
-------------------------------------------------------------------
On November 8, 1895, Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the X-rays
at the Institute of Physics of Julius-Maximilians-Universitaet of
Wuerzburg. This discovery had an enormous impact on natural sciences,
medicine, and technology.
To celebrate the centenary of Roentgen's discovery, the Institute of
Physics organizes an international congress from October 23 to 27,
1995 at the University of Wuerzburg.
The congress will cover most X-ray related topics in basic and applied
physics, biology, medicine, material science, crystallography, and
other fields:
* New X-ray sources
* X-Ray scattering
* X-Ray absorption spectroscopy
* X-Ray induced spectroscopies
* X-Ray microscopy and lithography
* X-Ray astronomy
* X-Rays in medicine
* X-Rays in biology
* X-Rays in material sciences
The congress will bring together leading experts from all over the world
to celebrate an important event in the history of science and to discuss
the present status and future aspects of X-rays and their applications.
