A significant issue to watch out for here in the biomedical community is
that the uranyl acetate is a commonly used counter stain in electron
microspy, along with lead citrate.  The COMBINED waste IS mixed hazardous
waste, in our opinion.

Researchers here acquired an automatic staining machine some time ago which
pumped all waste solutions into a common pool.  We have been able to get
around the mixed waste issue with a little redesign to avoid the mixing of
the waste solutions.
