HEALTH PHYSICS SOCIETY'S Newsletter
The Health Physics Society's September issue of the Newsletter is
in the mail to members of the Society. The issue has a number of
interesting articles including the following:
Past President's Message -- Marvin Goldman
Marv outlines the progress made in the Society during his year
as President. He outlines the direction that the Society needs to go in to
keep up with the changing climate in the Congress and Administration.
Editorial on Communications -- Gen Roessler
Gen discusses a commentary in The Washington Times that
referred to the Newsletter special issue on dose response models. She
explores the reasons that the issue was misinterpreted and asks When
Communications Fail, Whose Fault Is It?
President's Message -- Bill Mills
Special Report, "Radon Studies: Are They Contradictory? Are
They Necessary?" -- Mary Walchuk
This article is a too is a follow up on the commentary in The
Washington Times mentioned above.

A reprint of the The Washington Times commentary
Notes from Washington -- John Billett
An up-to-date briefing on what s happening on the hill of
interest to health physicists.
Treasurer's Report -- Keith Dinger
The issue also includes summaries (with photos) of the 1995 HPS
Summer School and the Annual Meeting, the ABHP column, a crossword
puzzle, a couple cartoons, and the CHP corner.
The October issue of the Newsletter is currently being prepared.
Look for an article supporting the linear, no-threshold model by Dan Strom
and a thought-provoking editorial on the cost of saving lives by Steve
