Mea Culpa RE Public Dose
My original mistake has come back to haunt me again. In responding to
someone who was a federal licensee I said dose to public in new Part
20 was from licensed operations. The original message did not get
through and I sent it to radsafe. At that time, at least a week ago,
Wes Dunn responded that many agreement states include x-rays & RAM
radiation and do not distinguish. I absolutely agree and am sorry to
have confused or alarmed anybody in an Agreement State. I would guess
most if not all Agreement States do that. I did not readjust my thinking
when I redirected my response to radsafe.
REcently Sandy Perle commented that he agreed with California taking
the stand that radiation from x-rays is treated the same as from RAM.
I agree with that also. I am not, however infavor of the reduction of
public dose from 500 to 100. or rather let me say of the requirement to
prove compliance with it, as the NRC requires. In planning for shielding
and such I will go along with it. But the real life consequences are
if anything so negligible I hate to see money wasted on proving compliance.
But as they say, "I wasn't asked." So anyway when I can in part duck it,
I will and do.
The opinions expressed above are soley mine and do not represent those of
this medical center, the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, or the U.S. Govern-
ment.
Why do those suffering from caffeine deficiency always try to portray it as
a virtue?
