All who are interested:

Try 'Volatility of 35S', R. C. Klein, E. Party, and E. L. Gershey
in "HEALTH PHYSICS" Vol 58 Number 3 (March 1990).

It is also (always) useful to look at the vendor's package inserts
for practical advice.

There is an impure lysate of e. coli that is marketted as as
substitute for s-35 methionine for cell labelling, apparently
it's cheaper 'cause they don't have to clean it up, and the
additional compounds present don't competed with the methionine
for uptake into the cell. The package inserts which accompany
these products ( both ICN and Amersham) have good advice.>
