RE: Pearls

A suggestion was made recently about getting all these "Sea Stories" listed
in print. A couple of years ago as Newsletter Editor for the New Chapter
I tried to solicit humorous stories learned from the school of hard knocks.
The response was ZERO. Well, maybe that's because of the fears of self-
incrimination. Anyways, good luck with this idea.

Here's a shorty:
A chemist was working outside of a hot cell, located just outside of a
cyclotron vault. The target had just been removed, and the vault was buttoned-
up. The phone rang. "Hello?" The response on the phone from the cyclotron
operator was "Don't use the phone, it's HOT!"
Sure enough, the chemist's ear was > 300,000 CPM on contact.
A terse verbal exchange ensued.
