ABHP Exam
While I have not been on an exam panel for several years let me assure you
that the ABHP Exam has not been 'stepped up'. The Board has enough
difficulty simply maintaining the current level of performance without
attempting to 'fine tune' to some other level. The past level of difficulty
has very effectively served its stated purpose, i.e.,to encourage the
study of Health Physics. And most persons who have taken the exam over
the past years will attest to the challenge of the exam.
Futher, In the case of Part I, the level of performance is rigidly controlled
via a number of statistical tests. The difficulty of creating a new
database of questions given the major investment of time and effort each
question gets makes it unlikely that a new Part I will be created in the
near future.
So be assured, if you study based on past experience you will be well prepared.
Regarding Part I questions available thru prep courses, etc. Many of these
questions are on topics tested on the exam, and some are very similar to
actual exam questions (obviously passed on by recent candidates despite
ABHP prohibitions), but many of the questions are in formats never used on
the exam or are ambiguous in some way. This does not negate their usefulness
as study aids, but one should be very cautious if you are looking for
specific examples of actual test questions.
