sterilization dose

we have a researcher who wishes to sterilize soil samples so there will be 
no activity from the procaryote species  which may be present in the 
sample.  We have access to a cobalt cell which can provide megarad doses 
as needed.  My question is if anyone out there has experience in 
sterilization of procaryots and can suggest an LD99 dose.
