?outsourcing

We are looking at outsourcing vs. increasing staff.  I would appreciate
some information from pharmaceutical/biotech/university programs similar
to ours.

We have over 500 users in over 100 labs.  The HP staff is one technician
and me.  We are responsible for the entire program, including radioactive
waste.  We currently outsource some meter calibrations, some monthly
contamination surveys and external dosimetry.  

I would like to know what others are doing on outsourcing: what
functions are outsourced and how has it worked out?

I would also like staffing information, i.e., how many HPs/techs and
radioactive material users do you have?

If the HP staff does not handle waste, how many people in the waste
group deal with the radioactive waste?
