Re[2]: Disposal of Electron Tubes
To all RADSAFERS with extraneous sources that are no longer wanted.
The CRCPD (Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors)
maintains a listing of brokers and interested persons who might want
your unwanted stepchild sources.
They can be contacted at:
CRCPD, Inc.
205 Capital Avenue
Frankfort, KY 40601
(502) 227-4543
(502) 227-4928 fax
Ask for the broker's listing for unwanted radioactives.
They will be glad to help!!!
Regards

The CRCPD did not review this and is not a for-profit organization,
therefore, I guess it is alright to offer their names.

It depends on the status of the facility license. If you are a broad
licensee, the NRC takes the position that you must manage your waste as if it
were under your license. This would require that the radioactive waste, if a
byproduct material such as Co-60, would need to be sent to your local rad
waste disposal facility. For Maryland? Barnwell?
If it is NORM material you might be able to get Richland USEcology to take
it.
Envirocare would probably not be appropriate because you probably have
relatively small volumes.
