Re: uranium in well water

On Fri, 17 May 1996 Barbara Hamrick (blhamrick@aol.com) requested info on
"drinking water wells anywhere in the country (USA), with total uranium
levels in excess of 1,000 pCi/L.." and Dan Caulk (danielc@juno.com) responded
with data on his own well "which has been measured at 60K pCi/L. I have since
put a filter on the system..."

I would hazard a guess that the measured activity was more likely radium and
daughters, NOT "total uranium levels", since at "60K pCi/L" the U content
would exceed 0.1 g/liter (>100 ppm) - an unlikely high concentration in well
water.
