Subject: Radium packaging & storage

Greetings!
Does anyone out there have any experience, or know of any guidance, on
storing, or packaging for storage, radium. Does it need to be in some
solution like storage of U tailings, or just in drums with pressure
relief?

I may be dealing with millicurie quantities or more.

Thanks,

Jeff,
If the activity is a millicurie or so, shield the source to what
ever dose rate you can live with and then put the shielded source ina
paint can( readily obtainable from any hardware store) and seal the
lid with a good silicone or other type of gasketing material. This
will pretty much contain any radon gas generated. The daughters will
plate out on the inside of the can, but better there than on the
walls of the storage area.

 Good Luck,
