Re: Latex Glove Permeability

We have seen degradation of latex gloves due to UV light exposure. The
type of gloves we've experienced this in is the heavy weight orange latex
gloves we use in glovebag applications. The vendors we contacted
indicated that there had been an increase in the price of the grade of latex
they usually use and that they had started using a lower grade of latex.

I haven't heard of any permeability problems associated with the
degradation, but on the heavy weight gloves the degradation is visibly
obvious and we change gloves that exhibit signs of degradation. Signs of
degradation that we've observed include; a powdery residue,
discoloration, and a gummy texture.

I suggest a call to the vendor to see if they've had a formulation change.
