Re: medical dosage
Reply to: RE>medical dosage
Hi John,
The Effective dose for a typical abdominal CT as reported by Geleijns et al is
between 15 to 20 mSv (1.5 - 2.0 Rem). (British Journal of Radiology
67:360-365).
If your looking for a quick overview of "CT Dosimetry and Radiation Safety", I
would recommend the chapter by the same name authored by L. Rothenburg & K.
Pentlow in the 1995 AAPM Summer School Proceedings: "MEDICAL CT & ULTRASOUND:
Current Technology and Applications", pgs. 519 - 556, Advanced Medical
Publishing, Madison, Wisconsin, ISBN: 1-883526-03-5.

I need a good medical type:
I have a friend that had a CT scan of the urinary tract and kidneys.
Fortunately, it all came out OK. She asked me to try to determine what her
dose was. Can anyone give me a range of values? Apparently, they did a
fair number of slices?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
