Subject: Literature references on Contamination of Fish, Game birds,
and Domestic animals
I am at Hanford Nuclear Reservation site in Washington and I am doing
a literature survey to determine that if there are some published
reports within last 10 - 30 - 40 years indicating the extent of
bio-accumlation of contaminants in fish (fish muscles or target organs
by specific chemicals or pesticides etc.) or fish eggs, gonards etc.
I am interested in contaminats like radionucliedes, organic (also from
petroleum based such as benzene, toluene, or chloro chemicals) or
pesticide contaminants, or toxic heavy metals such as Lead, Cadmium,
chromium, mercury, tin, or any other toxic metals etc.
A question posed by the native indians in this reservation who have
different practices to eat fish in different manners. They may eat
fish eggs or fish as a whole or just the head (fish head), brain,
liver, kidneys etc. They may boil fish and use its soup. Similarly
as per their rituals they eat game birds such as fowls or game animals
such as deers, rabbits, pheasant, or domestic animals (cattle, sheep,
goats, pigs, chickens).
This information is needed to permit assessment of Native American's
exposure and risk from consuming specific parts as described above.
Discussion on variation among fish species if available will be very
useful. Information from any area (any river or aquatic life) or any
of species of above described animal life will be useful.
Please send your responses, literature information (such as abstracts,
articles in journals, material from text books etc.) and provide me
with references or further information who may be working in this area
and could be a good source for literature information at my following
e-mail address:
tbasra@3-cities.com
I can be reached at 509-582-5974 or on my pager# 509-544-4108 (by
entering your phone number on the display of my pager, so that I can
reach you in shortest possible time).
Your help will be greatly appreciated. I need this information to
provide my conclusion within next week to Native Indian tribes in the
Hanford area (but similar information could be from any other area
which can serve as a very good surrogate data for the Native American
exposure
modeling).
Thank you
