TLD vs. Electronic Dosimetry Results
These are questions for those of you who work at Nuclear Power Plants.
We are in the process of resolving some employee concerns regarding
incremental versus official dose.
1. How often do you routinely read your TLDs (monthly, quarterly,
semi-annually, etc)?
2. What is your typical minimum reportable TLD dose for the monitoring
period?
3. How do you report TLD doses that are below your minimum reportable?
(e.e. "0", "ND")
4. Have you had any concerns from your employees when their
incremental doses change after TLDs are read? (This question is
particularly aimed at those plants who have electronic dosimetry and
some form of access control system)
5. Have you considered reporting electronic dosimeter readings for TLD
doses below minimum reportable?
(For example: A TLD reading is zero because the dose received for the
period was below a typical minimum reportable of 10 mrem. Electronic
dosimeter readings for teh same monitoring perid indicate 5 mrem.
Have you considered reporting the 5 mrem a oficial dose received?)
