Re: "CONTAMINATED" SHIPMENTS

Radsafers,

At the great majority of laboratories that I have worked at
over the years, part of the package receipt procedure was
to swipe the inner container within the transport "pig" and
not to just swipe the shipping package itself. Visual
inspection of the package for obvious damage was also always
a part of the receipt process.

IMHO that a radiochemical/radiopharmaceutical provider who
cannot provide a contamination free dispenser vial/container
practices such poor radiochemical technique that one HAS to
question the accuracy of the calibration activity quoted and
the total activity provided. From an RSO's inventory standpoint,
getting too much is as bad as not enough!
