In Illinois, there is a form that must be signed by the next-of-kin before
the deceased can be cremated. I believe that it addresses internally
deposited radionuclides in addition to implants containing isotopic power
sources. It is my understanding that this is to protect crematorium
operators.
Funeral directors should be quite knowledgeable on this subject.
