Re: Radiation monitoring badges in cine/floro exams

many issues have been discussed in this thread re: placement of badges
during cine and floro. During a typical left heart study, the
cardiologist is standing in a radiation field that may exceed 900mR/hr
with various projections. The placement of the dosimeter, left or right
shoulder, could produce a factor of 3 difference in the reading. The
assistant, who like the cardiologist, does not move from the table during
the procedure, stands in a radiation field that is 200-400 mR/hr, once
again depending on the projection. The best place for the exterior
dosimeter would be on the thyroid collar at midline. Does anyone have
this as their policy for the cath lab.
