We are posting two job opportunities for Environmental Health and Safety
(EH&S) Specialists II or III (depending on qualifications), with starting
salaries between $44,300-$60,900/year.  Please pass this information on to

The Environmental Health and Safety Office of the University of California,
Irvine, is seeking two EH&S Specialists to develop and implement
comprehensive laboratory safety policies and procedures.  One position will
serve the COLLEGE OF MEDICINE (Job# CU9220) and the other the SCHOOL OF
BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES (Job# CU1196).

Responsibilities include assisting lab personnel with implementing safe
operating and hazardous waste minimization procedures, training lab workers,
inspecting laboratories, and assisting faculty and staff in implementing
school-wide lab safety policies and procedures.  Requires strong work
experience applying the principles of occupational health, safety and
environmental protection in an academic laboratory environment, as well as
experience with developing and implementing policies and procedures,
training/information and record-keeping programs.  Effective written and
oral communication skills are needed.  Advanced degree in a scientific
discipline is desirable.
