Radiation Safety Officer. North Carolina State University (NCSU)
invites applications for an experienced health physicist to direct its
Radiation Safety Program. This is a 12 month non-faculty appointment.
The Radiation Safety Officer is responsible for supervision of a
comprehensive radiation safety program including compliance with state
and federal regulations, staff training, waste disposal and
radioactive shipments. NCSU holds a broad license for radioactive
materials, has a PULSTAR Reactor, and approximately 280 authorized
projects including clinical projects within various colleges and
research laboratories throughout the campus. The position requires an
M.S. degree in health physics or radiation safety and considerable
radiation safety experience in a research and academic center.
Certification in health physics or radiation safety and PhD is
preferred. Must possess excellent interpersonal, planning,
supervisory and communication skills (oral and written) and be
knowledgeable of DOE, NRC, EPA and other agency requirements.
Compensation for the position is competitive and commensurate with
credentials and experience. Qualified candidates should send resume,

staff.
