Sixth International WWW Conference
Radsafers,
Several months ago I posted this item on another list
server, without any response <sigh>, regarding the
WWW meeting and possibly having a radiation protection
break-out section. Nevertheless (particularly after
hearing Melissa Woo's presentation on internet resources
at the Western Regional Landauer Award meeting last
night at Jack London Square in Oakland, CA) I suspect
there are many radiation protection specialists with
interests in the WWW and the tools becoming available
so here it is again!

The Sixth International WWW Conference will be
held April 7-12, 1997 in Santa Clara, California, USA.
Since the World Wide Web (WWW) is becoming a key tool
in the provision of radiation protection information
(particularly in dosimetry administration, providing access to
publication quality documents, training resources, and
developing WWW forms based databases) and is likely to
become much more so over the coming years, you may want
to have members of your staff attend (maybe even you!)--or at
least monitor some of the on-line events.
> Focus: Since the first invocation of the hypertext
> transport protocol, the Web has been about access.
> Remote access, universal access, easy access. In
> keeping with the theme of the Web itself, the Sixth
> International World Wide Web Conference will focus
> on the many and varied connotations of accessibility.
> From the geographical to the sociological to the
> physical, new ways of accessing information may well
> be the hallmark of a changing world culture.
>
> Join us in Santa Clara, California, in April of 1997
> when Stanford University and Stanford Linear Accelerator
> Center (SLAC) seek to explore the limitless vision of
> accessibility that is the World Wide Web.

> Conference dates:

Since SLAC was one of the first (there is evidence that
SLAC WAS the first USA Web site), it surely is appropriate
for SLAC to co-host this meeting!
