Request of Information

Dear Radsafers,

I am a senior civil engineering student at the Universidad de las
Americas-Puebla, Mexico. As part of my thesis research project I must
measure indoor radon concentration in the area of Puebla city. I have
tried to look up for some information related to the radon matter in
Mexico. Unfortunately, few radon monitoring have been performed in
Mexico. There are only like two studies where indoor radon was monitored
in dwelldings of Mexico city, and the findings revealed that there were
not found indoor radon concentrations higher than 4 pC/L for which I am
very suspicious. These measurements were performed using the Nuclear State
Solid Trace Detectors (NSSTD). I am just getting familiar with this
topic, and a friend of mine told me about the Radsafer. Therefore I
want to ask for the following information:

1. What is the cheapest but still effective way to measure radon in air.
2. What are the real harmful effects of radon and its progeny to human
health and what are the studies that show that up.

I thank you in advance for your information.

Sincerely,
Helmuth Lau
