Re: Exposure Benefits

Roy Parker stated the following:

I suggest that perhaps this type of instrument should first be tested
and used at Post Offices (routinely). This will obviously result in
the civil libertarians raising their disdain, suggesting that it is
an invasion of one's privacy. I submit that we, the general public,
also have the right to work and play in a safe society. The small
dose (if that is a valid statement) is acceptable if it can rid
society of those whose only goal is to kill or maim innocent
indivduals.

The 3 microR/hr is still below what many of us are exposed to from
natural background. Is this extra increment really all that bad? We
have been debating whether or not there is a valid reason to continue
subscribing to the LNT, and discussing whether or not there is any
noticeable effect from receiving 5 rem/year. Considering that topic,
this one is sort of amusing.
