Re[2]: 1-week RSO's



     A number of years ago, I worked with a person who referred to 
     themselves as "certified in Health Physics" even though they had 
     nothing to do with the field, except remotely, and demonstrated little 
     knowledge of the subject.  Upon investigation, I found that this 
     individual had gone to a course (40 hour) with "Health Physics" in the 
     title and received a certificate upon completion.  One thing led to 
     another ...
     
     I had a long and frank discussion with this individual about what 
     certification meant, and that a continuation of this practice would 
     lead to adverse action against them.  I never heard another word.
     
     This does point out problems with short courses, and what they 
     represent and qualify one for.
