Safety Specialist/Health Physicist

The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI), the nation's largest not-for-profit
biomedical research facility, is actively recruiting a Safety Specialist.
The individual selected to fill this position will assist the Radiation
Safety Officer in implementing a comprehensive radiation safety program and
will provide technical guidance to the research community as-well-as other
members of the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Department. TSRI has
an integrated and comprehensive EH&S program and the selected individual
will actively participate in safety related activities outside of the field
of health physics. It is anticipated that this individual will play a key
role in general safety, hazardous waste/materials management, emergency
response and safety education.
At a minimum, candidates must have two years health physics experience,
preferably in an academic environment. A bachelors degree in Health Physics,
Safety Management or other related field is also required. In addition to
having strong health physics skills the ideal candidate will be
knowledgeable in other aspects of safety management, will have excellent
interpersonal skills and will have a focus toward customer service and
satisfaction.
