Dear Ohio Colleagues,

        Has anyone had any experience with filing under 3701-84-71
(radiation safety standards)?  Discussions with colleagues who have talked
with DOH personnel indicate DOH plans an extremely broad interpretation of
the term "modality" under 3701-84-71 (D) (1), ie. any item(s) appearing in
an accelerator- based prescription including, but not limited to,
fractionation schedules, beam modifiers (wedges, compensators, bolus, etc.),
beam energy (NAP or Eo), and mode (photon vs. electron).  Also, an OHA
mailing indicates that DOH will likely accept self attestations of
compliance until approx. 1998.  Has anyone had "official" confirmation of
these or other 3701-84 SRS/Gamma Knife/radiotherapy related matters?
