Subject: withdrawal of nrc proposed rule - unauthorized
use
fyi, the latest issue of the NMSS Licensee Newsletter
(NUREG/BR-0117 No.
97-2, June-July 1997 p.7) states
"The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is withdrawing a proposed
rule
regarding the intentional unauthorized use of licenses
radioactive
material by individuals. The proposed rule was published for
comment on
Jan 31, 1966 (61FR 3334). Of the 86 letters received on this
rule, only
four commenters were in favor of the rule as proposed. After
reviewing
these comments the Commission reconsidered the need for this
rule, and
concluded that the costs of implementing the proposed rule would
outweigh
the benefits."
fyi, this would have added 20.2205 to 10 CFR. Thanks to those
of you who
took the time and effort to make your input known to NRC.
