Re: Portable alarming rate dosimeters
While with FPL we discussed this with many of the Electronic
Dosimeter manufacturers and found that none had what we wanted, an
alarming AND vibrating dosimeter. One problem that we had found with
many of the electronic dosimeters was that the construction was poor,
and, that the audible alarm required wires would break, causing the
alarm not to be heard (even if you could hear the alarm).
I also caution individuals that they should NOT rely on an audible,
vibrating or visual alarm to ensure that they are not in a dose rate
or a cumulative dose area that they should not be in. The individual
should be required, and trained to periodically LOOK at the
dosimeter. To do otherwise can have serious consequences.
