Comments on Australian National Radio

Does anyone have any information about the SOURCE of the information being
put about on Australian National Radio (Triple J).

The report is an interview with a " radiation expert" from the " U.S. Centre
for Disease Control" who is visiting the civilian mining towns near the
Roxby Downs uranium mine in South Australia to speak about the "deadly"
hazards of the radiation exposure the townspeople are being exposed to as a
result of the mining activities.

The radio interview presents information such as:
* new epidemilogical research from the Centre for disease control has been
undertaken into the effects of radiation on humans without the "bias" of the
DOE.
* the research has identified that the risks related to exposure have been
greatly underestimated in the past and significant risks exist at levels
below 50% of the current worker limits (limits unstated but I assume 20mSv/yr).
* miners at the mine and townsfolk near Roxby Downs are being exposed to
"deadly" levels of radiation through a combination of external and internal
pathways.

I have heard nor read anything relating to "groundbreaking" new research in
the field which could account for the information being presented. How come
no one on radsafe told us about this amazing new research from the US Centre
for Disease Control which has obviously taken in millions of subjects in a
well controlled longditudinal study of many years duration? ;-)
