QUALIFICATIONS:
M. S. in related field or Science, or B.S. and two years of related
experience. Demonstrated strong math and computer skills are required. Good
oral and written communication are essential.
DUTIES:
Under the direction of the director, responsible for the day to day
implementation of University policies and procedures concerning chemical,
biological and radiation safety. Develop and Implement University programs
to ensure compliance with city, state and federal laws, regulations and
recommendations associated with use of hazardous chemical and radioactive
materials. The program includes all sources of ionizing radiation (machine
sources and radioactive materials), chemical and biological hazards used at
the University and all affiliated facilities. Additional responsibilities
include: The laboratory inspection program, shielding design, incident
response, worker training, waste management, effluent monitoring, air
quality evaluation, hazard evaluations, respiratory protection, chemical and
radioactive hygiene program, record retention, licensing, medical research
use of chemical, radioactive materials and biological hazards, personnel
monitoring and ALARA programs. Other duties as assigned.
