I apologize.  

After checking our records I found that we were given the "opportunity" to
do this by a new sign vendor but noted that the ramifications of
transferring them seemed to violate the "general license" clause.  We
didn't pursue this method and finally decided to send our signs to Barnwell
for disposal.

I must have mixed up our recycling of "smoke detectors" with exit signs.
