Job opening at UCLA



UCLA Radiation Safety Office has a job opening for a Senior Radiation
Health Physicist.  Following are the details:

Job Description: 
The Senior Health Physicist supervises the assigned Health Physicists
and technicians.  The Senior HP is responsible for the X-RAY machine
authorization program which includes registration of machines with the
State Department of Health Services (DHS), ALARA policies, shielding and
design, inspection of selected machines, and review of occupational
exposure along with authorization of licenses.  As a HOSPITAL HEALTH
PHYSICIST, the Senior HP has the responsibility for radiation safety
overview of the Nuclear Medicine Clinic, Radiation Oncology, Radiology
departments, and the training and orientation program of allied health
care professionals.  He/She will coordinate with the Survey Health
Physicist the assignment of senior technicians to x-ray machines and
nuclear medicine clinic inspections.  He/She will perform projects
assigned by the Radiation Safety Officer and act as one of the two
Alternate Radiation Safety Officers.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Essential to Perform the Job: 
Candidate should have current health physics experience at a broadscope,
type A, license with working knowledge of present radiation  protection
standards and recommendations of the ICRP and NCRP in the areas of
diagnostic equipment, nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology. 
Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate scientific or engineering field
required; Master’s Degree preferred.  Ability to write clear, concise,
logical, and grammatically correct technical reports, analysis,
correspondence, etc.  Interpersonal skills and ability to make effective
oral presentations at seminars, committee meetings, and technical
symposia and supervisory experience.

Salary range: $4142 - $6208 per month.
