Bite the bullet and shave a few thousandths off the bricks.  Then see if DOE
will buy the lead for shielding at Hanford.  Due to leads porosity and
softness, during your relocation of the lead bricks you sealed in the fission
products and solvents will not reach them.  If you use any brushing of the lead
this also will seal in the fission products.  This is based on experience.
