I don't know if materials have improved but early polonium static
eliminators were
particulates held together by matrix; these could and did separate under
cleaning solvents
resulting in contamination. Tom Caruthers authored a paper in Health
Physics in early
1960's on just such an event. Tom also authored a paper on radon build-up
in buildings
about the same time referencing his facility N.C. State College now NCS
Univ.
