You might also consider a tissue equivalent proportional counter as it can
give you a dose rate based on ionization of the tissue equivalent gas from
whatever impacts it.  Presumably the larger pulses have higher LET.  I used
one a while back that applied a Q based on the pulse size.  It was called
HANDI or something like that.  The device was made in Germany.  Maybe
someone out there is familiar with it.  I don't have my paper handy (pardon
the pun) to give the details.
