Last Wednesday, you said you were depressed to see the announcement
of Mangango's new book that claims that immune system damage is
caused by low level radiation.  Sorry for this late reply.

We may be depressed, but not surprised.  Joseph J. Mangano was one
of the coauthors of Jay M. Gould's "The Enemy Within, The High Cost
of Living Near Nuclear Reactors, Breast Cancer, AIDS, Low
Birthweight Babies and other Immune Deficiency Effects", 1996 Four
Walls Eight Windows Publisher, about $15, paperback.

This book will surely become a classic.  It claims that the
following are (they usually say "may" not "are") caused by man-made
radiation:

Breast and thyroid cancer (other cancers not addressed in this book)
AIDS
Low birthweight babies
Premature births
Hypothyroidism among newborns
Low intelligence (low SAT scores when bommers hit about 18)
Crime and violent deaths
Septicemia (blood poisoning)
Loss of biological species (mass extenction of plants and animals)

The anti-nuclear movement is trying to change the meaning of
"low-level radiation":
