RE: OSHA Regulations (Standards - 29 CFR)

Sandy:

After my previous post, I got to wondering about the currentness and accuracy of the OSHA Web site information. The regulatory document that I have is a 1997 issue, and matches the information given at the URL I provided earlier. As you know, however, some regulations change on a very frequent basis. Consequently, I returned to the OSHA home page and delved a little deeper. The last update to the Regulatory and Federal Register sections, was accomplished on 5/21/98. This would seem to indicate that contained information in general may be considered to be 45 to 90 days old. Not daunted by this, I searched the Federal Register for OSHA Final Rulemaking notices on the subject of Ionizing Radiation and just plain radiation. The most recent (and pertinent) FR notice returned by the search engine was dated 12/18/1986 (No. 51 FR 45427). So, I think that you can be reasonably certain that Section 1096 at the URL I provided is current.

As for accuracy, OSHA provides ample disclaimers, including: "The Occupational Safety and Health Administration maintains this server to enhance public access to OSHA information and programs. This service is continually under development. We try to keep the information timely and accurate and will make every effort to correct errors brought to our attention." You may draw your own conclusions. For me personally, accuracy of information found on the Web should always be considered as suspicious until verified. But then one can not spend his/her entire life verifying everything. As a consequence I use such information for nearly everything except legal citations and quotations (except as violated by the foregoing quote - - - easy ain't it?).

Bill

I believe that the radiation limits established by OSHA are the=20
same as the "old" 10CFR20. I would like to know if the following is=20
the most current source for the OSHA radiation dose limits:

OSHA Regulations (Standards - 29 CFR) 1910.1096b)(1)

Thank you for any information.
