Re: Beta burns

I would attribute the burns to the action of high energetic beta-emitters
like Sr-90 and even more Y-90 (E-max 2.3 MeV). Therefore frequent removal
of dust and use of tight protective clothes would have been essential and
probably would have saved many lifes in Chernobyl.
