I don't think anyone is arguing about how well Melissa runs the forum. I have to say myself that I am very pleased with it (I have tried MedPhysics). I also do not personally know Ms. Davis either.
I think that curiosity is to blame for the inquiries about this "banishment", "vacation," or whatever you want to call it. I'm sure Melissa has her reasons and life does go on.

The reason for the "vacation" and NOT a banishment, was
published the other day, by Melissa. It's a simple reason ... if you
have a problem with the way Radsafe is run, or its policies, then
you take it up with Melissa in PRIVATE. We don't have to agree
with this, but it IS Melissa who runs, moderates, maintains,
promotes and obtains the authorizations to allow us the privledge of
being members on a forum, which is well-known for its excellence,
and, its availability. If you consider the times that Melissa
intervenes, it's quite infrequent. If you want to see a server that
curtails its member's activities, try MedPhysics sometime.
In the meantime, if you have a beef with Melissa, take it up with her
in private. How simple can that be! Again, to reiterate, nobody has
been banned "permanently" --- just a cooling off period, like a time-
out for your kids .. or yourself ... we all remember those days!!!!
