Perhaps because professionals in the field of radiation protection have not
done a very good job of educating the public to the relatively minor dangers
of most uses of radioactive materials. What can be done? For one thing,
professional organizations could establish web sites to provide accurate
information on popular discussion topics. There ought to be at least one full
time person in the professional organizations whose job it is to combat the
various types of misinformation.
