Nuclear Waste Is Utah-Bound

Nuclear Waste Is Utah-Bound - (SALT LAKE CITY) -- Low-level
radioactive mill tailings from New York are on their
way to Utah. Despite objections from the state, the waste will be
transported by rail to the White Mesa Mill near Blanding. The
mill's owner says the tailings will be ``recycled.'' But state Division
of Radiation Control Director Bill Sinclair says he's not so
sure. Sinclair says officials are quite concerned the mill will
become a makeshift hazardous waste site.
