Job Posting: Part-Time HP Technician



The University of California, Irvine anticipates the need for an
experienced, temporary, part-time health physics technician in our P.E.T.
facility in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, College of
Medicine, in Irvine, California.  The position would need to start within
the next two weeks, and involves approximately three morning shifts per
week of 3 to 4 hours duration each, starting at ~ 6:00 a.m.  The exact
schedule will vary from day-to-day and week-to-week, depending on patient
scheduling.  This position is expected to last from 3 to 5 months.

Duties will include providing radiation safety monitoring during cyclotron
operations, during cyclotron and target maintenance, and during
radiochemistry of P.E.T. radiopharmaceuticals (18F-FDG and others); and
performing wipe tests, instrument surveys and fixed monitor calibrations on
a day-of-use, weekly, monthly, or quarterly schedule as appropriate, and
assisting the Radiochemistry Director in operating the cyclotron.

Experience working around curie levels of radioactivity (mostly shielded)
and in medical health physics would be a plus.
