Another way to increase the public's understanding is to use the BERT
concept popularized by John Cameron, Ph.D. See"Are X-Rays Safe?" at

This essay comes with 13 refrences and compares medical exposures to
Background Equivalent Radiation Time (BERT). In this concept, a 0.08 mSv
Chest x-ray converts to 10 days of natural background.
