Re[2]: HP lab survey frequency

Our program is very similar to that at UCB. Lab personnel keep material use 
records and perform surveys (usually weekly or monthly) based on material use 
frequency. Radiation Safety audits laboratories on a quarterly basis with the 
focus on survey quality, appropriate frequency, and adequate use records. RS 
performs a survey as a final check. Problem labs receive extra attention. 
This system has worked well since implementation some 5 to 6 years ago. Our
biggest problem seems to be personnel turnover. It takes time (even with 
training) to get new folks in the labs to get with the program.
