Correction to NRC Press Release PR-98-116.1
This press release was misleadingly entitled "NRC to Discuss Apparent
Violations With N.Y. Nuclear Gauge User," and failed to make clear than an
NRC safety inspection in July was a follow-up on an incident that occurred
at a branch office in Connecticut under the company's NRC license. The
company had 8 gauges permanently stored at the Connecticut facility and
reported the loss of one of these devices to NRC on July 8, 1998.
The company also maintains branch offices in Delaware and New Jersey,
presumably under NRC license.
Since the above referenced press release left the distinct impression that
NRC regulated the company's New York State operations, and made no
reference at all to the loss of a gauge from the company's Connecticut
branch office as being the reason for NRC's inspection at the New York
office, we felt that clarification was necessary. Apparently the company
was to have kept records of its Connecticut operations at the New York
location.
