[Fwd: Swiss and Swedish Nuclear Phase out politics]

Bjorn; Done. Thanks. Jesse

Jesse,

Is there any chance you could help me send the text below
to Radsafers. I have tried five different times today over
the last 10 hours (and in different ways). All attempts
resulted in "bounced backs". I don't know what the problem
is.

Best regards, Bjorn

Report from Sweden:

1000 people in Sweden were asked (by SIFO Research and
Consulting, www.sifo.se - all info in Swedish unfortunately)
about party preference and opinion about closing Barseback
nuclear power plant. The basis was telephone interviews on
May 18 and 19, 1998. The following fractions (%) intending to
vote for the various political parties did NOT want to shut
down the Barseback nuclear power plant (two units in southern
Sweden - we have a total of 12 NPPs):

Conservatives: 77%, Liberals: 63%, Center Party: 33%,
Christ Democrats (don't know formal English name): 71%,
Green/Environmentalists: 26%, Social Democrats: 55%,
Left party (former communists): 42%.

One interesting aspect is that a majority of our population
wants to keep nuclear power (about 60%) whereas the party
political constellations favor a phase out of nuclear power.
The agitation is still quite hot at times. The former leader
of the anti-nuclear campaign - now leader of the Center Party
talks about nuclear power as "and old technique".

I cannot give this man's name because we got an Internet law
in Sweden four days ago forbidding Swedes to mention other
people's names on the Internet without personal written consent
- the stupidity of this phenomenon is another good example of
the kinds of people in Parliament -I mean you can extrapolate
to "what do these people know about any other topic they take
decisions on?". If I want to mention what I think about the
leader of some dictorship - I must first ask the person if
its OK. Journalists and artists are excluded so I am now appear
as both an editor (and artist) at some websites. For comments
on this off-topic subject -please use my private email. It is
also forbidden to export names to foreign servers but I suppose
that Sternglass, Bertell etc. are by definition already located
in North America and there should therefore be no legal problem
to discuss their missions from here (another example: Apply the
law to the U.S. Internet comments about the recent Whitehouse
activities - "info" that flooded our media).

>> There may be a lot of cold people shivering in the dark.
Yes - this country is cold (I am definitely more programmed
genetically for something like the Carolinas latitude wise).
