Job Announcement
The Texas Department of Health has just today posted a job announce-
ment for an Evironmental Specialist V (Health Physicist) within the
Medical and Academic Licensing Project, Bureau of Radiation Control,
Texas Department of Health, Austin, TX. The announcement closes on
November 16, 1998. The position pays $3011 per month.
The person occupying the position dedicates approximately 80% of
his/her time (1) performing and coordinating relatively independent
scientific and technical reviews of advanced radioactive material
license applications for new licenses; and amendments to and renewals
of existing licenses; (2) developing and reviewing technical
guidance; (3) coordinating and performing facility pre-licensing
inspections; and (4) participating in enforcement actions for the
following uses of radioactive material:
-Teletherapy
-Multidisciplinary medical clinical facilities
-Single discipline academic research and development facilities
-Blood irradiators
-Mobile scanning services
-Remote control brachytherapy
-Gamma knife
-Services (e.g., leak test, calibration)
-In vitro laboratory services
-Broad scope authorizations
-Processors of loose radioactive material
-Nuclear pharmacies
-Multi-disciplinary research and development institutions
-Commercial manufacture and distribution
