Sr. Rad Engineer Position at Indian Point



The following describes a position that is opening at Indian Point Nuclear
Power Station, in Buchanan N.Y.  This is about 45 miles north of New York

Title: Senior Engineer

Qualifications:

BS in Engineering.  Ten years applied experience in the radiological aspects
of Nuclear Power Plant Generation or a satisfactory equivalent of education
and experience.  ABHP certification highly desirable.

Duties:

Provide technical advice to Indian Point personnel on how to reduce plant
exposures to an ALARA level.   Must be qualified to assume the duties of
radiation safety officer for the Company.  Ensure that the ALARA philosophy
is incorporated into all phases of station work.  Provide technical
expertise, as necessary, for any shielding, intewrnal and/or external dose
calculations and to the site radiological environmental monitoring program
(REMP) to ensure NRC, DEC, and the technical specifications requirements are
met.  Review plant modifications/procedures/radiation work permits for
compliance with ALARA guidelines.  Ensure that adequate consideration is
given to training, special tools, mockups, shielding, containments,
ventilation systems, robotics, chemical or special decons or any other
engineering controls needed to keep exposures ALARA.  Interpret policies,
procedures, Company or Federal regulations and resolve any issues with
officials of New York State, NRC, ANI, INPO, and others.  Assist the
radiological support manager in establishing meaningful goals, cost
controls, productivity improvements, and other performance standards as
required.  Participate as a member of the plant emergency response team as
required.  Act as a project manager for large special projects, as needed.
Perform other related assignments as required by the radiological support
manager.

Physical requirements:

Walking, standing, and climbing.  Must be physically able to wear a
respirator.  Must successfully complete and maintain Nuclear Power access
requirements.
